Every mile is for
a loved one.
Everything we do is for them and for us. Memory Miles through Glasgow, one hundred kilometres from Edinburgh, free wellbeing and events all year. This is the part of the charity that happens outside the room on a Wednesday night.
What a Memory Mile is.
Memory Miles is one of our fundraisers and challenges. There have been several, including Mick’s Highland Way.
Each mile we walk is dedicated to somebody who was lost. Families and businesses sponsor a mile dedicated to them, in their name and their memory.
So you do not just walk three miles. You walk for a life lost, and for who has been left behind. We hear who they were during their mile. One of our sponsors dedicated his mile to his son, on what would have been his tenth anniversary.
People who had lost someone weeks earlier came and brought their families. It was raw. It was also, in the way that keeps surprising people about this charity, a genuinely good day.
Edinburgh to Glasgow, on foot, in a day.
A separate walk, and a much smaller team. One hundred kilometres in twenty four hours, from the top of the Royal Mile to Glasgow, raising money for suicide postvention and prevention.
A piper saw them off the cobbles in the morning. They walked all day, picked up the Union Canal, and kept going after the light went. The last hours were head torches, a towpath and the Innocent Railway tunnel.
Nobody who does this is doing it for the distance. Every walker on that banner was walking for somebody.
The night half of it.
Filmed on phones as they walked. No commentary, no music.
Why they walked.
Filmed at Lambhill Crematorium in Maryhill. Everyone here chose to be filmed and to have it used.
Free wellbeing events.
Open to anyone who comes to the group. Boxing, sound baths, meditation, breathwork, reiki, walks, talks and family days. All of them free.
Next up
Upcoming events are announced on Instagram and Facebook first, and to everyone who comes to the group.
Build note: this block should become a live events list once the charity decides who maintains it. If nobody can commit to keeping it current, keep it as a pointer to social rather than letting a stale list sit here. The old site carried a venue change notice for six months after the change happened.
